Change

I've often put on this blog that the toughest thing for me as a principal is the difficult situations I see both parents and students in and what they (especially students) have to endure. Yesterday was an example.

A student, who is a quiet student, "blew up" with an anger issue at one of our staff members. This was uncharacteristic of this young lady. When I asked her why she was upset, she clammed up and wouldn't respond.

The concerned parents came in and talked about her change of behavior, due largely from a negative influence that the young girl had been hanging around with. To see the concerned parents worried for their daughter and at the same time frustrated by the behavior, was tough to see.

I have no doubt the parents are making the effort but it just brought home how complex relationships and life can be.
