WEEK 40 APPROACHES

As week 40 approaches, the final week of school, I reflect on the year. I only wish that we had assessment results now and did not have to wait. The waiting thing is somewhat ridiculous, however, given the fact that so many kids in WA test, I suppose it would be nearly impossible to get results in a quicker fashion, though other states have been able to do this successfully.

Personally, it's been both a great year and a tough year. Never before has the pressure been so demanding and it can wear one down. This is especially true the last couple of weeks for me. I'm very proud of our staff and its progress. I'm not saying that we don't have work to do, because we always do. But as Daniel Pink talks about in Drive, mastery is never truly obtainable. Will we ever feel satisfied? I hope not!

In the book, DRIVE, Daniel Pink talks about "mastery" and that obtaining mastery is impossible, though it alluring, and it is precisely why we strive for it in all we do. Education is no different.
