Being a principal is hard, fun, challenging, rewarding and many other descriptive words I could use. For today, I'm going to use: hard. Hard in the sense that we have tremendous responsiblities in the education of children. These responsibilities are often times interrupted with situations that you can't control.
Today was a roller coaster of emotion for me, from anger to joy to deep appreciation of the human race. I know, that's way out there . . . an appreciation for the human race but today I saw the love of parents shine through a very tough situation. In a world that seems so focused on the negative and pointing out the faults of others and systems, it was incredibly moving to see how love can overcome.
I was at church a few Sundays ago . . . and when I walked in there was a message on the projection screen before the service. It read: Love wins. I just stood there and tried to take in what that all meant.
Today, I saw in our humanity, that love ultimately wins. It was amazing.
